"If there's a will there's a way"... so goes the saying that amply inspired and boosted the morale of some ardent parishioners of the Filipino community in a small Catholic parish located somewhere in Saitama, Japan.

It's really interesting to note that the Kamifukuoka Church has to be reconstructed due to prevailing circumstances, thereby causing temporary inconvenience and havoc among the devouted parishioners mostly Filipinos. Thus, the spirit of "bayanihan" started to knock at the heart of every KCICnian inspired by such a saying everybody got involved in their desire to remedy the situation. There are several issues and concerns to be considered. We have to settle temporarily to the Kawagoe Church to give us time to worship our God, while executing the plan to build a new edifice for the church.

Everybody knows how important a church is for our life and salvation. Just for the sake of emphasis, the church is the place we go for worship, reading and listening to the words of God, for singing to God's glory, for serving each other, and for helping one another to grow spiritually. To sum it all, it's a place of love, forgiveness and encouragement.

Another problem is how to raise and generate funds for such a gigantic task. The unity of purpose should buoy and elevate each one to work through without creating divisions and repercussions. There are many members, all too willing to work for oneness.

There is a goal and timetable aimed at accomplishing the project to build a new church within a span of eight months. That's quite a tall order to reckon with. Thus, we have to put up strategies to generate more funds so that the construction may gain headway. As another saying puts it -- " It's not the sugar that makes the coffee sweet, but the stirring"... The reason is too obvious. It's the effort. In other words, everybody has to move and something has got to be done in order to produce results. (Read more below. Some more pictures are available also.)

"Its always boring to sell alone. A picture or two with your business rivals wont hurt. Eitherway, our Church will be built soon"

The Kamifukuoka community had put up a small bazaar wherein slightly used items, clothings, goods and the likes were on garage sale to well -- meaning Filipinos and Japanese who sympathize with the mission. And one big spectacular attraction includes delicacies and food like bihon, lumpia and leche flan.

The KCIC WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends) prepared and cooked the delicious bihon, lumpia and leche flan for the bazaar drawing more attention from customers. Surely they demonstrated that women and housewives know that the easiest and surest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Thus food plays a very vital role. All these are extraordinary efforts exemplified by our indefatigable Ate Phoebe, Ate Merlyn, Ate Nancy, Ate Sally, Ate Imelda, Ate Amie, Gerri, Cesz, Margie, Joan, Ate Jackie, Pharaoh, Winnux, Kuya Mario, the kids, among others.

Be a person for others give us a recognition for a great deed, let us be taught that the glory is to be given to the one who deserve it; God alone. The Lord Jesus has taught us to lead by being a servant. Those who seek to lead others can do no more better than to extend themselves in selfless service to make a positive difference in the lives of others. With all these in mind we will succeed and be able to praise God.

"Buyers are always not the Financial Holders. They are just there to ask for Bargain. Eitherway,

both participated to the building of our new Church."

"Business accompanied with pose and smiles makes the product more wholesome to consume.

They will have bigger smiles soon when our new Church is already built."

"Like I said, Buyers are just front-liners. Financers always stay at the back. Its a scheme!

and a strong one. Still, we will build this Church and it'll be strong too."

"Beer can really add color to your cheeks. Its not obvious on this photo because our subject

is facing back. Nevertheless, somehow and someway, our church will be built. "

"This happens when you bring the wrong kind of lens in a specific event. At least, our smiles

are still visible enough. It'll be more visible soon when our church is finally built. "

"Yes we can build this church with our bare hands! We can even hold three packs of bihon with one."

"Wanna trade your ice cream for a box of whatever? Okay, here ya go. Are you Dreaming of a new

Church? Yes I am! Somebody is taking a photo of us. Lets be candid. Its for our new Church."

"The best way to appreciate a Bazaar is to imagine yourself having none. "

A good Bargain always include;

-perseverance to ukay-ukay,

- a mix of little acting pretending a desired price for the product

- showing a fair amount of smile to the seller to meet her final price

- and a good teamwork. Allowing your behalfs to let them watch the kids while you get the best bargain.

Eitherway, we all contributed. The Church will soon stand and its good to know we all shared for it to be there.

» Farewell, Fr. Quoc Dinh Nguyen

It has been said that man by nature is vain and conceited. While we continue our temporary journey in this world, we will be going after so many things (after so many things: riches, fame, glory, reputation, etc.) Yet, we usually end up empty because we wil not be satisfied. Sadly, we crave for more than what is enough of these temporal things. We will still be facing for that something that will fulfill us, for that somebody who will give us peace and contentment.  And who is this...

Jesus Christ once said to apostle Peter, "Peter, upon this rock I will build my church."Sometime in the morning of October 22, 2011, last year, the ground breaking and blessing of the site of our proposed church edifice took place amidst a slight downpour. Such an unforgettable event and ceremony which was well attended by a group of Catholic devotees who braved the rain, was spearheaded and officiated by no less than our faithful God's servants Rev. Fr. John Warret and Fr. Quoc Dinh Nguyen.At...

» A Little Remembrance of the Old Kamifukuoka Church

Humanity is bowed down with troubles, sorrows and griefs. No one can escape, the world is wet with tears, but, thank God, the remedy is at our doors. We have the church to go to, when everything seems to be hopeless. There, we find solitude and comfort. We can turn our hearts away from the world of matter and live in the spiritual world. The church can give us freedom. If we are hemmed in by difficulties, we have only to call upon God, and by His great mercy we shall be helped. If sorrow and...
