Tribute To My Beloved Lola PDF Print E-mail
Written by winnux
Monday, 27 July 2009 08:31

July 18, 2009 marked the first death anniversary of my beloved Lola Mameng. She was 92 years old when she passed away. 92 years could be an eccentric figure for my Lola who was also deprived of the gift of sight.

She was blind for almost half of her life. I could not write the exact words to describe how life would have been like for my Lola who had even hardly seen her legacy - her grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons and great granddaughters. My Lola Mameng had her last glimpse on my older brother when he was just an infant. The next generation of "apo" from my older brother downwards were completely out of the picture. Despite of being visually impaired, it was not a hindrance for my Lola to make her the best Lola we could ever imagined.

In honor of my Lola's first death anniversary, we had a Free Eye Clinic hosted by our clan at our residence for all our town folks. The free eye clinic had successfully served approximately 600 patients. Laid on the foundations of what Jesus had taught us, we got no other motives othen than exercising a simple act of love and kindness towards all our brothers and sisters who are in need of medical attention . This is also our way of showing our love to our Lola and how much we missed her.

Allow me to share the excerpt of the press release summing up the Free Eye Clinic Event.

How I Drag Into KCIC PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 14 July 2009 07:28

In this short article, I will try to recount the very beginning of my existence and how I emerged to become a member of KCIC.

There is no doubt it was God who brought me to become part of our growing community, the KCIC. I've been working here in Japan for 3 years then when I started to join KCIC. In that span of 3 years, there were 3 instances that I moved from one apartment to another. In my first year, I used to live in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. My apartment was just walking distance from our office and it was just approximately 5 minutes by bicycle. Shinjuku is not far away from Takadanobaba and I used to stroll around Shinjuku almost every weekend when I had the time. Going to Yotsuya to attend mass was also possible because Yotsuya is not far from Shinjuku and I could go there with my bicycle. Since then I'd been attending mass at Yotsuya.

After a year, my company decided to let me experience life away from Tokyo for reasons that it would be more economical although the travel time would not be as comfortable as living in Tokyo. I didn't had a choice anyway so my second year in Japan was spent living in Iriso, Sayama-shi. Iriso is almost an hour away from my working place in Tokyo. I was already accustomed to attend mass in Yotsuya that I still continued to attend mass there. I was aware that there was a Catholic Church in Kawagoe but still I decided to attend mass at Yotsuya.

A year passed and that time our company had expanded its work force that a significant number of fresh graduates were hired. From these newly hired employees, most of them were not originally from Tokyo and that made our company decided to rent a dormitory enough to accomodate everyone who wished to avail the shelter the company was providing. Thinking it would be good for me to join the other Japanese in the dormitory for reasons that I could have enough time to mingle with them and in the process would improve my Japanese skills, I was made to move again for the third time.

GOSSIP is a disease with an Antidote
shhh.jpg

Gossip is idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others.

A Gossiper aka Rumor Monger, is a person who thrives on spreading information of questionable origin to their social network, which can include the people that they work or socialize with or even their own personal friends, or even their own family and relatives, or even both. They typically act this way because they crave the attention that their rumors about other people generate for themselves, despite the fact that their own lives are pretty much boring. The gossiper does not care about the reputation of others. They are mainly interested in generating attention for themselves by being the source of “juicy” information.

Live broadcast of solar eclipse planned

Solar_eclipse_animate_(2009-Jul-22).gif

The first total solar eclipse that can be seen from Japan in 46 years will occur on July 22. It will only be visible from such southern islands as Amami-Oshima, but efforts are under way to broadcast the celestial spectacle to other parts of the nation.

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, blocking almost all of the sun from view. When envisioning a total solar eclipse, most people think first of the solar corona, a halolike ring that can be seen around the sun at such times. According to Prof. Masami Okyudo of Wakayama University, however, "the true beauty of a total solar eclipse lies in the changes it causes in the entire landscape."

When the sky darkens during a total solar eclipse, the horizon takes on a red glow like that of a sunset. Observers sometimes can see stars and birds return to their nests, mistakenly believing that night has fallen.

"I want to show people [not just the covered sun] but the entire sky during a total solar eclipse," Okyudo said. To that end, he and others are planning to relay video of the eclipse to dome-shaped screens in other parts of Japan.

On Father’s Day PDF Print E-mail

“On Father’s Day”

According to the teachings in the Bible in the book of Exodus, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which The Lord your God gives you”. This is the 5th commandment God taught us that ends with a promise, a promise that we live a long life, full of blessing if we obey it. The act of obeying this God’s command with full sincerity and humility might be easy to some and difficult to others. Difficult in a sense that some parents (father and/or mother) conduct themselves not to be worthy of honor. But obeying our Father and Mother in the Lord is righteous. Showing to them our love and affection is more than obeying this commandment of God.

Honestly, I am very open to show my love and affection to my mother but I could hardly express those thoughts to my father. I couldn’t find any reason; it could be genetic or so.

Because of this, I am indited to express my love and affection to my Father in writing on this occasion of Father’s Day.

If you stay too much at the back, the signals wont reach the receiver, it'd cut off. please approach the any of the MEG's (Mario,Erwin, Gong) for t
  • Pharaoh : A few sundays back while driving on our way to church. we noticed that one closed abandoned complex at route sixteen happens to be a small church. I was planning to check on the place however, I realized it was far from the station. This is with regards to our temporary masses when our new church will be built. It is actually accessible by bus from kawagoe eki. but, its not even close to walking distance. (it is however very close to our apartment. hehehe, sori for talking jibberish)
  • Pharaoh : More Power to Cang2. Your Courage and Obedience will bring you good angelic points in heaven. The KCIC will always be here for you to stand by you and to pray beside you. Let love be the columns of our faith. See you soon. (I took the liberty of singing "Alleluia" on last sundays "give Thanks" song...coz you werent around. hehehe)
  • Pharaoh : Hi everyone. Been awhile since Ive been here. Life is unpredictable for me nowadays. After a few months of crunching keyboards, now im facing a few weeks of fieldwork torture. For the mean time that im here let me also share some few experiences. Last week's, bazaar sale was a smash. I mean, for a minute I thought we were going to go home frowning coz we will be eating unsold bihon, lumpia&kutchinta. But, all changed when we suddenly found out that it all went sold. Jesus is indeed marvelous.
  • winnux : All I am still hoping is the realization of the increase in Child Support (kodomo te atte) despite Hatoyama is not in power anymore hehehehe
  • winnux : That's the Japs way if things are not acceptable anymore. But in the Philippines, no matter how unworthy our leaders are, they hook themselves into office and remain stay in power.
  • winnux : Japan PM Hatoyama just resigned from his post. I really admire the Japanese's delicadeza virtue. If someone thinks he is not in the right post and can't perform his job then he will willingly step down from office.
  • winnux : iijima, you better call the immigration for inquiries directly. I think when you applied for extension, they give you a receipt or a sort of a stub. There is a phone number there that you can call in case you have inquiries.
  • iijima : hey guys sorry but have a question here about my mother inlaw i extend her visa last may 16,2010 until now no post card from imigration i get how many days exactly will u know if your extended or not? ty reply asap pls ^^
  • winnux : Bihon, Lumpia, Puto Kutsinta!!!! Yo, yo! Irashai!
  • winnux : You guys should see our convincing-selling-technique espcially Pharaoh's unique persuading style...
  • winnux : Irasshai, irashai, irashaimase!!!!
  • cang2 : Gd Thurs.Eve! Thanks to winnux and snowlove for all the care. TY gerri for d' message..Missed the Sunday w/ u guys. Yappari, Sundays won't be complete w/o hearing Mass. Hope to see u all this sunday.May God continue to give us His Love and Abundance!
  • winnux : When he was riding on a boat with his disciples, he was sleeping when the storm caught them.. It only reminds us that we should take care of our bodies by having enough sleep.
  • winnux : Yeah, you have the point SnowLove. Even Jesus had to rest, sleep, and take a nap.
  • winnux : How I wish I could sleep all I want.
  • snowlove : @cangcang- hope you are doing well and we always pray for you... gambatte!!! @winnux- you should get enough sleep, when moto is at his 30's, he slept less than 5hrs. busy at work, then in his 40's now he got this terrible sickness... so guys, as much as possible take good care of your health and get enough sleep while you're still young.
  • snowlove : minna-san Ohayo Wink
  • winnux : chronic sleep debt.. how i wish i had an hour or 2 more hours of sleep....
  • winnux : We missed you Cang2x yesterday. Wonder where were you. Anyways, hope things are all right.
